MVP

This is an early MVP. Ranks, names, requirements and every other concept here are subject to change in the coming sprints. What this means

How BinaryMaxxer works

A network of
clusters.

BinaryMaxxer is a free learning platform for the talent the industry overlooks. It is made of clusters: communities that teach, review and promote their own members, on one shared rank system that recruiters can read.

You are looking at a minimum viable product.

BinaryMaxxer is in its MVP stage. The structure on this page, the ranks, the names, the roles, the rules and the curriculum are our current plan, not a final one. All of these concepts are subject to change in the coming sprints as we learn from our first members, partners and reviewers.

If you are a member: your progress is kept when things change. If you are a partner, investor or reviewer: treat this as a working draft and tell us what you would change.

The structure
01
THE PLATFORM

Genesis Cluster

Builds and runs binarymaxxer.com: the rank system, the badges, the records and the standards every cluster follows.

THE FIRST CLUSTER

Octet Cluster

The first live learning community, focused on production software engineering. This is where you join today.

COMING LATER

More clusters

Other teams will be able to start clusters for their own fields, using the same ranks so a rank means the same everywhere.

Your path
02

From applicant to engineer.

  1. Apply

Sign up for free and meet Admissions. You start at rank 0, the Applicant, and join your first live session.

  2. Learn every week

One live session a week, with recordings, the Manual and practice environments for the rest of the week.

  3. Prove the work

Ship the proof of work for your next rank. Two peers at a higher rank review it, and a Guide signs it off.

  4. Light the next bit

Your rank goes up one step, your public badge updates, and you help the members behind you.

At rank 15 you are ready to apply for junior roles. At rank 30 you are proven in the field, with real-world work outside the cluster. See every rank →

Houses
03

Choose your House at rank 31.

Everyone learns the same foundation first. At rank 31 you choose a House, a specialism with its own lead and its own projects.

House of the Stack

Software engineering: backend, frontend, systems

“We build what runs.”
House of the Ledger

fdsrefr retette yerfret retrr rgre

“Every cent is accounted for.”
House of the Oracle

Data science and machine learning

“We see the pattern before it appears.”
House of the Wall

Cybersecurity: defense, testing, hardening

“Nothing passes unverified.”
House of the Forge

DevOps and cloud: infrastructure, reliability

“What we forge does not fall.”
Who runs it
04

Clear roles, real titles.

  • Founder and Chair of the Genesis ClusterThe Bootloader

Owns the Cluster, appoints the CEO and CTO, final word on disputes.

  • CEOThe Shell

Runs the business: pricing, growth, partnerships, membership.

  • CTOThe Kernel

Runs the learning: curriculum, assessments, ranks, Houses; promotes to rank 255.

  • VP of a HouseHouse Root

Leads a House and judges its senior members.

  • Head of OperationsThe Scheduler

Plans and runs live sessions; keeps recordings available.

  • Head of CurriculumThe Compiler

Maintains the Manual, the assessments, and learning materials.

  • Head of Compliance and EthicsThe Debugger

Handles disputes and enforces the rules.

  • Head of AdmissionsThe Sentinel

Reviews applications and onboards new members.

  • Records AdministratorThe Registrar

Oversees the platform's records of ranks, Parity marks, and assessments; fixes exceptions.

  • Mentor or Team LeadGuide

Spot-checks peer reviews and signs off Proof of Work; at least 2 ranks above them.

The rules
05
  • 01
    One bit at a time.

    No rank may be skipped.

  • 02
No bit is lit without proof.

Every promotion requires real work, reviewed by two peers at a higher rank and signed off by a Guide.

  • 03
    Open by default.

Ranks, requirements, curriculum, and lore are public. Anyone can read what it takes.

  • 04
    Every lit bit lights another.

Those who rise must teach those who follow.

  • 05
    No question is null.

No member is mocked for what they do not yet know.

  • 06
    Ship, do not hoard.

Knowledge and work are meant to be shared.

  • 07
    Respect the whole stack.

    No House is above another.

  • 08
    Disputes have a path.

Disputes go to Compliance, appeals to the CTO, and the Founder's word ends every dispute.

The money
06

$0 a month. For everyone.

Membership is free during the MVP. How we fund the platform long term, through partners, sponsors or paid extras, is one of the things we will decide in the coming sprints. Learning to rank 255 will stay possible without paying.
